16 random things about me

#1. I have accidently dropped my cell phone in the toilet TWICE. It continued to work, but not so very good anymore. (I have a new cell phone now though, we upgraded today!) #2. I am scared of spiders and webs. If I walk into a web by accident, whether it has a spider or not, I will scream and jump and run. #3. I am NOT afraid of snakes, and have picked up a few. I also pulled out the bull snake that was trapped in our swamp cooler, when Ken would not do it! #4. I have never broken a bone. #5. When I was 16 my friend talked me into working as a nurses aid at a local hospital. I lasted one day and never went back. #6. I turn 29 this year and am feeling old.(just put this in cause Amber and Karen both put it in their list, and well really, if they feel old at 29 and 25! Man I better throw in the towel now!) #7. I dove off a high dive at a pool at an air force base my brother was stationed at. Unfortunately, the force of the water ripped my top right off of me in front of hundreds of strange guys. #8. I was called coke bottle legs in junior high school because my calfs were so much bigger than my thighs.
fortunately as I grew older, my legs become more rightly proportioned. #9. I grew up with many deformed kids in my neighborhood. I feel fortunate that I and my siblings escaped whatever caused this.(except for the coke bottle legs, maybe that was MY deformity hehe) They were: The albino brother and sister with pink eyes. The brother and sister with no sweat glands. The girl with the baby leg that never grew. The boy with 3 fingers on one hand, and only 2 fingers on the other. The baby with the huge deformed head. #10. Back when I was growing up, this was before they had banned the deadly toxic DDT that sprayed out of the back of the bug spray trucks that sprayed the town, before they even KNEW that it was deadly toxic poison. The thing to do in our neighborhood was all the kids would run behind these trucks, right in the cloud of poison. Our parents gave us all permission to do this! We would run into the house as we saw the trucks coming: "mom! Can we run behind the bug truck?" The answer was always yes and we did it alot. Not only can I not imagine letting my kids run in a cloud of bug poison, but just the running behind a truck in itself was dangerous. oh, the good ole' days. Now you might think, hmmmm maybe that explains some of the deformities.....dont know...I feel lucky.....#11. I worked for 9 years at General Telephone Company as a telephone operator. I loved that job! I took maternaty leave when I beame pregnant with Amber, I never went back, I wanted to stay at home and be full time mommy. #12. Another fun thing to do in my neighborhood was to ring door bells and then run as the people came to the door. My brother and I got to be pretty fast runners, as sometimes the man of the house would take out after us! This was a fun prank back then, our world now is too dangerous for these kind of pranks. (no, my parents didnt know about this then, although we told them later after we grew up)#13. another fun game all the neighborhood kids played in the evening after it got dark was "30 scatter" The person who was "it" would stand by a tree and hide their face and count out loud to a certain number and give everyone a chance to hide. We would hide all over the neighborhood, in peoples yards, around their houses, etc. and the "it" person would have to find someone and "tag" them. We never had any fears back then, just fun.#14 I used to be very limber, when I was about 11, I would lay on my stomach, stretching my legs up and over my head, I would tilt my head back and I could put my toes in my mouth! I regret my mom didnt take a picture, as I would always be doing this showing off.#15 I have read the Bible all the way through cover to cover. #16. I was the fastest runner in my whole grade school, boys and girls, I remember everyone always wanted me on their relay teams hehe!

Oh yeah! I was the best belcher in fourth grade! Me and my friend gigi (jennifer jenkins)used to belch in class in fourth grade. I was the loudest though and the teacher made me leave the room. My teacher said: "Janis! If you gonna do that, go out in the hall and do that!!!"

And Cindy remembered the blue ribbon. because I used to talk about the wonderful blue ribbon I got for winning the 50 yard dash. I was so proud of winning that ribbon. But somehow, when I finally found that ribbon to show to you kids, it looked so pathetically small and cheap. But it really didnt dampen my pride at winning it. It was a good memory still. I remember winning against a very tall black athletic girl. But most of all I remember the crowd yelling "go FRankie (my nickname) go FRankie!!!"

That's cool mom...nowadays it seems they give ribbons and such for EVERYTHING, so yours really is an acomplishment...seeing as a child can just act normally and get one now. :)
