flood
Last thursday Ken left for work as usual at 6 am. I slept until 8:30 and got up and starting getting ready for work at 9:30. I went into the kitchen to have some breakfast and was shocked to see the floor covered with water!! I looked and saw that the carpeted computer room was also flooded with water!! I heard a sorta hissing noise also and i thought first of the dishwasher as the water seemed to be coming out of that area. but then i looked under the sink and saw water shooting out of a hole in one of the pipes under there! It was the hot water pipe i found out. I panicked with all the water everywhere and i couldnt find how to shut it off. I called ken at work and he said to turn the handle under the sink but it was stuck and would not budge. I got some duck tape and put it over the hole which stopped the water pretty much for awhile. ken realized i was very upset and since i had to leave for work in a short while, fortunatly he was able to get the rest of the day off to deal with the "flood" using our carpet shampooer he sucked out as much of the water from the carpet as he could. he spent the day repairing pipe under the sink because as he fixed the one pipe another one sprung a leak. we ended up having to pull the carpet up because the padding and board underneath was soaked. it had also leaked into the basement from the floor and flooded it in one corner ruining the ping pong table which was right under the computer room in the basement. we called our insurance and a guy actually came out that day (amazing) and wrote up a settlement for $1774.00 less our deductable of $250.00 gives us $1524.00 to make repairs. He said to get an estimate and if we couldnt get it fixed for that we could get more $. so we are getting an estimate tuesday. we well be getting new linoleum in the kitchen and a new board for under the carpet in the computer room as the board is warped. the bottom of one of the kitchen cabinettes is warped also. well anyway that was our "flood" Who wants to help me pick out a type of flooring for the kitchen? and a pattern? I dont know anything about flooring !? but i guess anything will look better than what is there now! :)

Wow-that is terrible. I am glad your insurance covers it. Are you going to get new carpet too? Or instead of linoleum, what about ceramic tile or pergo? That would be my vote, but it might cost more. Greg's parents have pergo in their kitchen and it looks so nice.
mama, i guess i am going to have to build you an ark-from cindy poo
I bet you CALLED Amber and Cindy and told them about it...not a word to KAREN who actually found out cuz Cindy mentioned it last week!
