Abby had surgery today for her patella luxation. (This is where the knee cap keeps slipping in and out of place) she has had this problem for almost since we got her as a puppy. but it was a gradual thing, at first she would just lift her back left leg and just sorta skip. but after time it kept getting worse to where recenly she would hold that leg up almost constantly. We had checked with a few vets over the 3 years we have had her. But I guess I hesitated to have her undergo surgery. For one thing, I didnt get any clear answers at the time. also the vet I trusted and wanted to have it done by (she did both abby and zoeys spaying) quoted me a price of $1300 to $1800! she couldnt even give me a close quote. But then a friend of Kens from work who has 2 chihuahuas mentioned that both of their dogs had the same problem as Abby and had it done successfully on both for only $800 a piece. well, $800 sounded alot better than $1300 to $1800. and the fact that both thier dogs did well convinced me to go with their vet. well, abby had it done today, she is not feeling good right now of course. but i am hoping she will also have a good outcome when all healed.

Poor Abby. She looks miserable. It will be good for her in the long run though.
oooh abby baby, i hope she recovers fast and well, she doesn't look to comfortable right now. Did they give her pain killers? i hope so! Because dogs have pain too, i cant imagine having my knee cut open without painkillers! I am glad she made it through the surgery well though, i bet you were a worried wreck like you are when any of your REAL kids are in surgery!
